Exploring the secrets of home
Thanking everyone for your wonderful comments in response to Not For Sale--over on my Facebook page, and Caroline Leavitt's Facebook page.Speaking of Caroline, her wonderful and latest novel, Pictures of You, is in bookstores now. She's a glorious writer, full of heart and wisdom, with the ability to tell a story so real, you will feel her characters walking beside you, or strangely, you walking beside them. Read it!
Adding thanks to Susan Henderson for linking Not For Sale to her debut novel page: UP FROM THE BLUE. Sue's novel is gorgeous and powerful.
Jessica,What vivid and powerful writing. I read the excerpt a few days ago and keep thinking about it. I can't wait to read the entire memoir.
Dear Sere,Thank you. What a lovely thing to say. I'm truly grateful that you took the time to read and comment here. I can't wait for you to read the entire memoir!Jessica
Oh, Jessica...what powerful writing! I've driven by that house over the years so many times, but your writing has shed such a light on it. It's amazing how we go through things in life that we think we can't handle, yet somehow manage to come up on the other side. My childhood in Newton was filled with many of the same traumas...sadly, I almost could have written your story (not that I can write at all, but mean that I lived a lot of that). The pain and isolation you felt brought tears to my eyes...such sadness with no where to put it. I am SO happy that you channeled all that reading into becoming such a fabulous and inspirational writer...I thank you!Betsi :)
Betsi,Thank you so much for this, and for sharing your memories of suburban troubles that I suspect are more common than we ever imagined. Thank you.Jessica
