Launch Party at Brookline Booksmith, Jan. 10, 2012

Today feels like the day after my wedding. I'm filled with smiles and gratitude for a perfect launch.  Here's a few pictures that my husband took. Thank you, everyone, for coming and celebrating with me. Apparently, more than 85 or so people showed up.
Setting up

My sister's stupendous idea to put my book cover on the cake!

People arriving. That's Jennifer Haigh in the beret.
Joyce Walsh (L) good friend and BU Professor of graphic design talking with my dear old friend Mark, from college days
Me and my bro!
Ms. Leora Skolkin-Smith, author of the supreme, Hystera, who came  up from NYC!
Crowd scene, old and new friends everywhere
Roger Gordy, who took my author photo, and my 8th grade teacher, the splendid Mr. Kunitz.  Those who came to the reading will know how important he was to me. What a surprise to see him!

The incomparable Evan, events mgr at Brookline Booksmith, introducing me.  Evan is a talented writer. I loved how he captured the essence of my novel in about 50 words.

  1. What a delight to see these, Jessica! Wendy and I are so happy for you, and we wish we could have been there to cheer you on.

  2. I was there in spirit, but that's not quite enough! Congratulations, Jessica.

  3. How wonderful! You deserve every special moment, Jessica!

  4. oh, how incredibly perfect for you! a wonderful turnout for a magnificent book and author - very touching - it all brought tears to my eyes - happiness for you!

  5. Thank you, Jon and Wendy! You've been wonderful. Jen, Danielle, Amy, and Gypsywoman, many thanks for your good wishes. It was truly a glorious day.

  6. Congratulations, what great pictures! You look fantastic, I was sorry not to be able to make the pilgrimage to the event.

  7. The wedding analogy is a good one. You are luminous! What a fabulous beginning. I can practically feel the good vibes from here. I can't wait to see what happens next for you and for Night Swim. xoxo

  8. Jessica -
Congratulations on your successful launch party at the Brookline Booksmith.
I look forward to reading your book.

  9. Thank you, Patry, Spofcher and Peter. A wedding pilgrimage? Pretty close to it. A wonderful evening. Still feeling the glow.

  10. I just closed the book on Night Swim..or I should say I just pushed the arrow, since I was reading it on my Nook. I see that you have had many favorable reviews, none of which would benefit from my inexperienced ideas expressing how much I loved this book. So I will just say thank you for writing these words and for introducing me to a character that I wish I could spend more time with.

  11. Dear Lise,
Thank you so much for reading Night Swim, and for your kind words. It means so much to hear from readers.
